R&D investment – what a positive day yesterday!

Congratulations to member company Abbott on the announcement of it’s investment of €85m in Sligo, which will create 175 new jobs.  (Read about the planned Abbott investment)

…and HP and Big Fish added to the positive day with 300 R&D jobs announced between them. 

All in all, a good day’s work!

Finance Bill 2012 – R&D Tax Credits

Department of FinanceThe Finance Bill 2012 was published on 8th February last.  The Bill gives effect to and puts flesh on the bones of the provisions announced in Budget 2012.  The main points are:

·        The first €100,000 of group expenditure on R&D is excluded from the incremental basis of calculation. The tax credit will be due on such expenditure at 25% without reference to the 2003 ‘‘threshold amount’’. Continue Reading

If you own or manage a small limited company with a company registration number and you have a business opportunity or problem that you want to explore, why not apply for an Innovation Voucher worth €5,000?

The objective of the Innovation Voucher initiative is to build links between Ireland’s public knowledge providers and small businesses and create a cultural shift in the small business community’s approach to innovation.

Enterprise Ireland is delighted to announce that the Innovation Voucher Initiative is now running in Northern Ireland also. By linking up with Invest Northern Ireland, Enterprise Ireland can now offer voucher holders access to an additional 10 Knowledge Providers in Northern Ireland.

Enterprise Ireland said this morning that client companies export sales grew in 2011 to exceed the pre-recession record levels of 2008. New export sales in excess of €1bn are expected to be recorded for 2011……more
